Women's Golf: Ohio enters round 2 in 3rd place

Ohio is teeing off today in third place out of 12 teams, the best position it has seen all year, in its last event of the season, the Lady Herd Fall Classic.

Ohio posted a 316 cumulative score in yesterday's first round action at Sleepy Hollow Golf and Country Club in West Virginia, earning the Bobcats a tie for third place with Towsen University.

Right now we are sitting pretty well

said coach Kelly Ovington.

The team came into the tournament with the goals of shooting 310 as a team and finishing in the top three. Ovington noted that the team would have to putt better on the course's tough greens to accomplish these goals.

It's sneaky (putting on the courses' greens) she said. It doesn't seem challenging.- she said.

Ovington said that the golfers had no trouble off the tees and reaching the green because the course's fairways are wide open.

Despite the team's woes on the green, it still remains only 11 strokes off the leader ' the University of Cincinnati ' and six strokes off the team goal. Ohio seemed confident that it could reach 310.

We are playing better and better each time

said Ovington. -

she said. In addition to yesterday's round of competition, Ohio participated in a practice round on Sunday.

The team will conclude its season with today's final 18-hole round.-
