Grad student's death thought to be a suicide

An Ohio University graduate student from Ghana died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Dec. 27.

Albert Karikari Adusah, 35, was found by his wife, Augustina Adusah-Karikari, and a friend in the South Green residence hall where the couple resided.

She contacted the Ohio University Police Department at about 11:30 a.m.

He was found on the floor of the library in Brown Hall

said Scott Jenkinson, the Athens County Coroner, who pronounced Adusah dead at the scene.

Sgt. John Stabler, officer Brandon King, and officer David Gillogly of OUPD responded to the call. The case was handed over to Lt. Chris Johnson for further investigation.

OUPD believed Adusah committed suicide, Johnson said, adding the case is under investigation.

We're not going to release bits and pieces until we have everything done he said. Nothing has changed.

Adusah, who majored in educational research and evaluation and his wife, a residential coordinator for the Department of Residence Life, lived with their two young daughters.

Adusah's adviser, Gordon Brooks, chairman for the Department of Educational Studies, was not available for comment.

A January funeral will be held in Athens but arrangements have not been made yet, said George Mauzy, a representative for University Communications and Marketing.
