Three West Virginia men were arrested Sunday in Athens for trafficking more than 2 pounds of marijuana.
Jason S. Spiker, Louis D. Haddad and Lyle L. Talbott Jr. were in a vehicle that was pulled over for crossing over marked lanes, said Athens County Deputy John Morris, one of the arresting officers.
According to the news release, several indicators led the deputies to believe that there were illegal narcotics in the vehicle.
A K-9 unit came to the scene and the dog indicated that there were drugs in the vehicle, according to the news release.
Police found about 2.5 pounds of marijuana and about $2,500 in the vehicle, Morris said.
The three men appeared in the Athens Municipal Court Monday.
Spiker was charged with a traffic violation of marked lanes and trafficking of drugs. He posted his $10,000 bond Jan. 12.
Haddad also was charged with trafficking of drugs with a $10,000 bond.
Talbott was charged with trafficking in drugs and extradition for crimes in another state.
His bond is set at $20,000. Both Haddad and Talbott are being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
Their hearing is scheduled for Jan. 21 at 2 p.m.
