County prosecutors filed five felony charges yesterday against a New Marshfield man who sheriff's deputies say forced a 15-year-old girl to have sex with him.
Bobby L. Stobart, 25, forced a 15-year-old to have sex with him in Trimble five times between Dec. 19 and Jan. 13, according to complaints filed against him in Athens Municipal Court. The girl told Deputy Doug Crites that Stobart forced her to have sex and threatened her, according to the complaint.
Judge William Grim set Stobart's bond at $50,000 and he was taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
Prosecutors charged Stobart with five counts of gross sexual imposition. Each charge is a fourth-degree felony, punishable by six to 18 months in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
He has previous convictions for assault and disorderly conduct in 2003. Two other disorderly conduct charges against him were reduced to lesser offenses in 2002 and 2004.
Stobart will appear before Grim at 2 p.m. Jan. 27. for a preliminary hearing in Municipal Court.
