Master pianist David Korevaar will perform a classical recital tonight at the Ohio University School of Music Recital Hall.
Korevaar, who splits his time between performing and teaching at the University of Colorado, has performed in London and Germany.
(The) biggest thing in performance is experience
Korevaar said. (The) more you do it the more natural it becomes.
Korevaar will perform selections by Johannes Brahms, Ernst von Dohnányi, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Franz Schubert.
Visiting artists usually perform at least once a quarter, said Chris Fisher, an assistant professor of piano.
In addition to the recital, Korevaar will conduct a master class where he will observe and critique performances by three OU piano students. While the master class is in session, fellow students will observe and take notes on Korevaar's criticisms.
Peipei Song, a second-year graduate student in piano performance, said she is anticipating Korevaar's comments on style and tonal quality.
Also, Song said she looks forward to seeing how Korevaar's playing style compares with his teaching style.
When they play
it's just so different
Song said.
