Three white males allegedly assaulted an Ohio University student early Sunday morning near Emeriti Park. The alleged assailants hit the male victim after he observed one of the three shove a female who was with them around 2 a.m., according to an Ohio University Police report. The student made a statement to the group about shoving the female and was struck with empty hands, OU Police Chief Andrew Powers said. The victim was not seriously injured. The case is under investigation. Officers do not know whether alcohol was a factor in the assault, Powers said. Assault is a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine, according to Ohio Revised Code. All the suspects are described as white males between 6'1 and 6'3 and between 190 and 210 pounds. They wore blue jeans, two wore polo shirts and the third wore an OU T-shirt, according to the report. The female was blonde and between 5'5 and 5'8. He gave us no more details about the individuals Powers said. Anyone with information about the crime should contact OU police at 593-1911. |
