More than 400 bedrooms are still available for the coming school year at The Summit at Coates Run apartment complex and with four months left to sell them, the representatives are hoping that a new model room will help promote sales of the remaining apartments.
After several months of construction, the apartments on Richland Avenue will be completed before June 19 when residents are permitted to move in, said Samantha Matta, a leasing consultant at the complex.
The apartments are based on individual leases and are sold by the room. More than half of the 856 bedrooms are still available in the complex, said Kristin Brandel, the property manager at The Summit at Coates Run.
Even though many rooms are still available, Brandel is not yet concerned about filling all of the apartments or losing money, she said.
We are hoping that we draw enough interest so that we don't have to deal with those concerns
Brandel said. We are very optimistic because we have a lot to offer residents.
A model of part of a four-bedroom apartment is now open at the leasing offices on N. Court Street.
The model room is an effort to help spread the word about the apartments and give people an idea of what the apartments look like before they commit to a lease, said Kristin Rudibaugh, a marketing representative.
Until people come to view the model they don't know what they are going to get Brandel said. We are not like other communities around campus.
Only bedrooms in three and four-bedroom models are now available. Rent for a three bedroom model starts at $604 a month and rent for a four-bedroom model starts at $589 a month, Matta said.
Prices vary depending on whether a tenant decides to sign a ten-month lease or 12-month lease, Brandel said. Also, each bedroom has a full bathroom.
The Summit at Coates Run is different from other Athens living arrangements because residents can lease per bedroom - meaning they don't have to sign a lease with roommates, Brandel said.
Residents are given roommate-matching questionnaires so that representatives of The Summit at Coates Run can pair people with similar interests, Brandel added.
The individual leases are one of the best things about the apartment because the residents are not responsible for other people's rents especially if one of the roommates moves out
Brandel said. If no one rents one of the rooms
we just lock it and you don't have to worry about it.
