The Bobcats weren't fazed by Eastern Michigan's undefeated home record. Ohio traveled to Ypsilanti, Mich., and handed the Eagles their first home loss by a score of 175-119. The victory was Ohio's largest win this year against a Mid-American Conference team. We felt very good about the win coach Greg Werner said. We beat a very talented Eastern Michigan team. The Bobcats finished first in 10 of the 16 events. Junior Chelsey Bower and sophomore Rachel Heim led the way with three victories each. They swam fantastically Werner said. We've seen it all year. They've been training really hard and they are competing really hard. Ashley Marion swam to a victory in the 400-meter Individual Medley. Her time of 4:27.41 is a MAC best this year. Despite a second-place finish, freshman Petra Chomicz swam the seventh-fastest time in Ohio history in the 200-meter breaststroke(2:20.90). (Chomicz) is swimming well Werner said. She set three lifetime bests in the meet. She has been working hard in training and we are really happy with how she has been doing. The Bobcats also won the two relays, the 200-meter medley relay (1:46.63) and the 400-meter freestyle relay (3:29.22). Lindsay Hamilton and Amy Bromberg finished second and third, respectively, in the one-meter dive. In the three-meter dive, Bromberg took second, while Hamilton took third. The victory was Ohio's fourth-straight win. The Bobcats improved their record to (9-3, 4-3 MAC). The meet was the final dual meet of the year. Next up for the swimmers is the MAC Championships. Werner wanted to use the meet to solve some problems before the championships. We got some looks at some lineups we wanted to see Werner said. We saw some girls swim in other events. We still have some things to work out but I feel really good about where we are heading in the championships. |
