In a recent Outlook article, it was announced McDavis will be holding monthly office hours. I commend McDavis for working to create a more open form of communication. There is no appointment necessary and each person will have ten minutes to speak with McDavis, in order of arrival. While two hours a month is hardly enough time to hear all the voices who would like to be heard, this is a great step toward a more democratically run university. I hope that McDavis continues to add more hours, but more importantly, takes what we have to say to heart.
I also would like to encourage all students, faculty, staff and community members to go and speak with McDavis today, as well as during the following office hours. Whether you want to address a problem in our community, or simply say you appreciate this kind of communication opportunity, it is important we show up. We need to show McDavis and the community we want to hold discussions relating to the university, that we care about what happens here, and we want to play a critical role in the governance of Ohio University.
Currently scheduled office hours are in Cutler 108:
- 8 to 10 a.m., today
- 3 to 5 p.m., March 17
- 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., April 10
- 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., May 7
See you there.
