Ohio's nonconference schedule through 2015, announced yesterday by Athletic Director Jim Schaus, features the resurgence of the Ohio-Marshall rivalry and another match-up with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Battle for the Bell, Ohio's former feud with the Thundering Herd, was put on hold when Marshall moved to Conference USA in 2005. A meeting on Sept. 25, 2010, in Huntington, W. Va., will reset the rivalry.
The teams will then trade home games through 2015, making Marshall the only staple on Ohio's nonconference lineup. The Bobcats hold a 29-17-6 lead in the all-time series.
After nearly upsetting the Buckeyes this season, Ohio will make a return trip to Columbus on Sept. 18, 2010. The Bobcats held a 14-12 lead entering the fourth quarter before falling 26-14 to Ohio State on Sept. 6.
Next year, Connecticut will make the trip to Athens, the first BCS opponent to play at Peden Stadium since Ohio upset Pitt in overtime on Sept. 9, 2005. The Bobcats will also host Cal Poly and travel to North Texas and Tennessee. The schedule also allots seven home games for Ohio in 2013, an all-time high.
