For the Athens Area Mediation Service and Passion Works Studio, Souper Bowl Sunday is this weekend, and it's substituting football with ceramic bowls and tasty soups.
The ninth annual fundraiser takes place at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Athens Community Center and costs $20.
The organizations will dole out ceramic bowls, crafted by artists from Passion Works Studio, and a variety of soups donated by several Athens restaurants, said John Schmieding, director for the Athens Area Mediation Service. Several local musicians also will perform at the event.

which you get to take home he said. Some people like to try all of the dozen or so soups that we have.
Proceeds will benefit Passion Works Studio, which supports collaboration between artists with and without disabilities, and Mediation Service, which specializes in conflict resolution.
It brings together the artist community Schmieding said.
