Sex offender pleads not guilty to 78 counts

The man who was found traveling with a previously missing Athens High School student was indicted on 78 counts at Hocking County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday.

Zachary Wisor's indictment included 48 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, 16 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, 11 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, two counts of possessing criminal tools and one count of tampering with evidence, according to court documents.

Wisor, 23, pleaded not guilty on all counts. The pretrial is set for March 11.

The counts do not include Wisor's disappearance with an Athens teen, Lucas Kemmerle.

Ohio Marshalls found Wisor with Kemmerle in South Carolina on Jan. 22.

Wisor was scheduled for an arraignment for a multi-count indictment on Jan. 5, but he disappeared with Kemmerle on Jan. 4, said Holly Hollingsworth, spokeswoman for the Ohio Attorney General's Office. Hollingsworth was not able to confirm if all of the counts were the same for the arraignment scheduled for Jan. 5 and Tuesday's arraignment.

Wisor has one conviction in Athens County for pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor in 2005. He pleaded not guilty to that charge, but he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented content. The court found him guilty.

I don't want to paint him as a villain; you know

he has a mother who loves him. I just want to do right by my son and let the wheels of justice turn said Anne Kemmerle, Lucas' mother.
