Music fans in Athens are preparing to rock as The Union's 14th annual Blackoutfest begins today.
Blackoutfest is really a celebration of underground music
and underground music in Athens said Scott Winland, The Union's booking manager. The Union has been the biggest supporter of underground music in Athens since the '80s.
This year, the tradition continues with bands such as Columbus' Times New Viking, Cincinnati's Buffalo Killers and Detroit's The High Strung. Each of those bands will be making an appearance this weekend, along with many others.
It's great that a venue in a small town like Athens can continue to be known nationally as a great place for underground touring acts to play and Blackoutfest celebrates this annually
Winland said.
The music will blare at 7 tonight, and again tomorrow and Saturday.
