After missing Saw V in theaters, I finally took the time to watch it.
Big mistake.
I spent the first five minutes completely baffled as to what was going on in the film, and then I realized it wasn't going to get any better.
As my mind drifted from the film, I started to wonder if Ashton Kutcher was a surprise director for the film or something. I just kept having daydreams that the Jigsaw doll would appear on TV to a victim, but then it would fade out and Ashton would appear in his place, giggle and say, Man
you just got Punk'd. Then a parade of on-lookers and camera crews would appear in my room all laughing at my confused, embarrassed expression.
Though that is not exactly what happened, it might have made more sense.
I really get into the movies, don't get me wrong. However, I've remained loyal while I've watched all of my friends become disgusted with the cliff-hanger endings and refuse to watch anymore. Therefore, I don't think I can be blamed when I ask, Really?
To be frank, when the movie came out in October and the tagline was, You won't believe how it ends I predicted it. I figured it was another ploy to lure the many naïve followers, like myself, into theaters with the hope of closure while tricking us with another cliff-hanger.
Then Scream Queens, a TV challenge show where 10 actresses competed for a role in a Lions Gate film, aired right before Saw V. Shawnee Smith (Amanda) from Saw was one of the judges, which pretty much proved me right in my assumptions about there being more films in the works. It was later announced Tanedra Howard, the Scream Queens winner, was going to be in Saw VI.
I really want to know when the madness will end. I've heard speculations of up to a total of 15 films and I don't understand how that could even be fathomed. Seriously, John Kramer (Tobin Bell) has already died and yet he keeps coming back like a cat with nine lives. Then, Saw V took it there when it added the good cop, bad cop element.
Though I really just want to know how it all ends already, I wish someone would just admit that Ashton Kutcher is the brilliant mind behind all of this trickery and maybe I could get some sleep at night.
