The recent actions of Michael Adeyanju's Student Senate illustrate the need for students to take a hard look at the candidates in this year's Student Senate election. To those of us who voted for The Birthday Party last spring, Adeyanju's complete submission to administrators comes as no surprise. His presidency makes Tim Vonville's Student Senate look like a champion of student concerns. Student Senate elections shouldn't be about popularity or who has been on Student Senate longer; it should be about electing senators who will actually represent students. The Ability and Accountability Party certainly hasn't done that, and it is imperative that students elect senators this spring who will stand up to President McDavis and the Board of Trustees.
