West 82 demonstrates a very strange understanding of taste
and I don't mean the food. Included among today's soup offerings was Somali Pirate Peanut Soup. I understand the attempt at humor, but it's the rare comedian who can get laughs out of an international incident (see Jon Stewart). Piracy off the eastern coast of Africa is a serious, ongoing situation with complex political and economic repercussions. In addition, I can't imagine that Ohio University's sizeable East African community (the Somali segment of which was featured recently in The Post) found it very funny. Should I look forward to Swine Flu Stew and Pandemic Pot Roast tomorrow?
