A three-way crash lined up traffic along East State St. Friday after a maroon Grand Prix tried to cross five lanes between Save-A-Lot and Dunkin's Diamonds.
The Grand Prix collided with a red truck as it darted across the street, pushing the Grand Prix into a third car, said Officer Krishea Osborne of the Athens Police Department. Firefighters cut open the Grand Prix to rescue one man from the wreckage.
The two occupants of the Grand Prix and the truck's driver were taken to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Osborne said, adding the accident is the worst she's seen on that portion of the road.
