Two Ohio University students reported that a six-foot-tall college-aged man with a dark complexion assaulted them in separate incidents early yesterday morning.
One woman told police that the man, who could be Latino or of mixed race, made multiple attempts to grab her early Sunday morning, said OU Police chief Andrew Powers. Another woman told Athens police that a similar-looking man grabbed her buttocks in an alley off N. Court St. hours later.
We're not certain it's the same person
but the fact pattern is similar enough Powers said. He urged students who travel after dark to walk with friends, be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious behavior to police.
The first assault occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. off S. Shafer St. near Wren Stadium and Pruitt Field. The second happened at 3 a.m. in Fern Alley, off N. Court St., according to a university news release. OU sent information about the crimes to all students, faculty and staff, Powers said.
Athens police could not immediately be reached for comment Sunday night.
Anyone with information about man should call OU Police at(740) 593-1911. Students who want a walking escort can call OU's Safe-T Patrol at(740) 593-4040.
