The Bobcats' seventh-place finish at the Cardinal Classic was similar to last season's result.
Despite the increase in this year's field from 13 to 16 teams, the Bobcats still finished seventh as two Ohio golfers tied for 14th place.
At last year's tournament, junior Jordan Fesh and sophomore Megan Weaver finished with the same two-round total of 159 and tied for 40th place. This year, the duo tied again, but made it sweeter as they both shot individual career-best rounds.
Fesh shot 76 and a 75, and Weaver shot a 77 and 74, resulting in a 151(+7) two-round total for each of them.
The team tallied 310 in round one and 308 in the second round, for a 618 (+42) final, which is an improvement from last year's seventh-place finish that took the Bobcats eight more strokes (626) to finish the Players Club.
Another positive from the weekend tournament was the Bobcats' ability to shave their 18-hole season average down fourteen strokes from 323 to 309.
Junior Erin Cahill finished with a 155(+11), good for31st place. Seniors Lauren Bergman's and Colleen Lienesch's both shot 163(+19) and tied for 56th place, complimenting Fesh's and Weaver's strong tournament results.
Mid-American Conference rival Eastern Michigan was able to hold off Ball State to win the tournament with a 591(+15), with Ball State shooting a 598(+22).
The Bobcats now have a couple weeks off to prepare for the Zippy Invitational in Fairlawn, Ohio.
