ARTS/West opens its doors for the fifth annual ART/Oberfest tonight, featuring work from Athens residents.
(ART/Oberfest) started out as a small festival celebrating all the artists that live on the west side of Athens. In the past years it has expanded to include all artists
not just (artists from) the west side Sherri Oliver, ART/Oberfest project coordinator, said.
The event will be held at ARTS/West, 132 W. State St., today and tomorrow.
The entire space of ARTS/West is turned into a gallery for visual art like paintings quilts
photography and mixed media
Oliver said.
The festival will feature other kinds of art as well.
It's an art show of all forms. Two- and three- and four-dimensional
so it is visual and sound and dance and theater
ART/Oberfest committee member Constance Gabbard said.
There will also be music performances tonight and tomorrow.
Starting around 7
Aquabear Legion is going to have their monthly showcase of really great local bands
Oliver said. (Tomorrow) we are continuing the performances and having something we are calling a yART sale.
The yART sale will be an opportunity for local artists to sell some of their pieces.
(It's an opportunity for) artists who want to get rid of their art seconds
things not up to gallery level
that people might be interested in taking home. It will raise money for next year's art show
