Bluegrass band to promote album tonight

The queen of bluegrass will hold court tonight at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville.

Rhonda Vincent and The Rage, of Tenn., will bring a night of high-energy country tunes to Nelsonville beginning at 8 p.m. tonight.

The Rage consists of Hunter Berry, fiddle and mandolin, Mickey Harris, acoustic bass and vocals, and Ben Helson, guitar and vocals. The band also features Aaron McDaris on banjo, guitar and vocals.

Vincent has released 13 studio albums and has been named female vocalist of the year seven times by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

Vincent and her band are on tour promoting their newest album, Destination Life, released in June.

Reactions to the album have been positive, Vincent said.

Everyone in the band brought their individual talents

then we merged them and made this project. Critics seem to enjoy it and so do other musicians. It's a very exciting time right now she said.

Vincent, who comes from five generations of musicians and recorded her first song when she was five years old, said she hopes to bring fun and energy to the Nelsonville audience.

We want people to have as much fun at our shows as we do she said.

Tickets to the performance are $25 presale and $28 at the door.
