Wigs, wings and witch costumes are among the items being accepted and sold at the AVW Productions' Halloween costume fundraiser today.
AVW Productions, which produces the show Fridays Live, recently changed its name from Athens Video Works. The group has about 150 members and nine shows.
AVW Productions is (Ohio University's) student-run video production house. We do everything from write
direct produce shoot
edit and score the music for the nine shows we have
Marketing Manager Dan Stroble, a junior studying video production, said.
The group is having the fundraiser to raise money for a teleprompter and its new talk show.
We realized the poster board and the markers needed for cue cards add up
Stroble said. It is a couple hundred dollars a quarter for one show. So really
once we get this initial purchase of the teleprompter we would be saving ourselves time and money.
The group is accepting used costumes and accessories.
We are accepting donations of gently used
clean costumes; anything from a whole costume to a wig or boots or accessories
Stroble said.
Costumes cost $10 and accessories start at $2. Those who donate a costume will receive a $5 off coupon.
It is a cheap way to get a different costume for upcoming festivities and it really helps support the start up of our new show
General Manager David Jeffries, a junior studying video productions, said.
The new show, tentatively called Talk of the Town, is an entertainment talk show, Jeffries said.
It is a cross between The View and The Today Show. (It will have) a news segment in the beginning
go into local news and it also allows for a segment to talk about popular topics
