OU names new associate athletic director

Ohio University intends to hire a new associate athletics director of development, the athletics director announced yesterday.

Jim Harris will replace Chris Delisio as associate athletics director of development, Athletics Director Jim Schaus said. Assistant Athletics Director of Media Relations Jason Corriher refused to release Harris' salary information. Requests for Harris' salary information were not returned in time to be printed.

He has a real knack of building relationships with people in a very short period of time

which is naturally as important for fundraising Schaus said.

Harris will oversee the Ohio Bobcat Club, which is the department's fundraising arm, Schaus said. The money funds athletic scholarships and supports athletic programs, among other uses.

Delisio left in early September to become Director of Development for the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at Ohio State University. He earned an annual salary of $78,000 at Ohio University.

Before coming to Ohio, Harris was Associate Director of Development and Director of Annual Giving at Indiana University for more than four years.

He was Indiana's Assistant Director of Development and Director of Young Alumni Development from July 2004 to June 2005 and a graduate assistant in Ohio's Athletic Development office from August 2003 to June 2004, according to a news release from the athletic department.

He's worked in the athletic department he knows our campus

he knows our culture

he knows Athens

Schaus said. All those things are an extra bonus.

Harris studied kinesiology at Indiana University, where he received his bachelor's degree in May 2002. He received his MBA from Ohio University in 2004.
