There is no doubt among any of us that these last 24 months have been very difficult and plain scary at times. Besides the economic impact each citizen and his or her family have had to face, cutbacks have been implemented across the board from government entities many seniors have depended upon. These groups not only bring some semblance of quality to their lives, but much needed nutrition as well.
The Meals on Wheels program of Athens County is being severely impacted by some of these cutbacks. Notice I didn't say, proposed cutbacks - this is the real deal. And because of that, I've decided to take pen in hand and make a personal appeal to you, a voter of Athens County.
By voting FOR Issue 6 on November 3rd, you can re-establish the financial means necessary to guarantee the Southeastern Ohio Regional Food Center can continue to serve those among us who are the most vulnerable. For many of us, the support and passage of this levy will amount to a cost of less than 2 cents per day, certainly a minute amount to feed the hundreds benefitted by this much needed program.
So, please, take time to vote on November 3. It's your responsibility as a citizen of this great democracy. And when you vote, help your neighbor by voting YES on Issue 6.
