Standout thrower pleads 'not guilty,' to await hearing

Ohio University's nationally qualified thrower pleaded not guilty yesterday to hitting a parking enforcement officer with her car.

Municipal Judge William Grim released OU senior Bahiyjaui A. Allen, 21, of 363 Richland Ave., to await trial for obstructing official business. Allen will return to court Nov. 4 for a preliminary hearing.

Police say Allen struck Officer Judy Hudnall with her car Tuesday after Hudnall called a tow truck to remove it. Allen fled the scene, but officers caught her in front of the Chase Bank on Court Street.

Allen owed $155 in parking tickets, according to court documents. She had amassed nine parking tickets since Sept. 3, according to the police report.

She is the only nationally qualified shot put and discus thrower on OU's track and field team, and holds university records for both indoor and outdoor shot put.
