The Bobcats will hit the court for the first time this season in an exhibition game against Ohio Dominican University.
Ohio will look to build on the 2008-2009 season that yielded a third place finish in the Mid-American Conference East division and 13-18 overall record.
Returning senior Jennifer Bushby knows that starting off on the right foot is as important as anything.
We need to play with a lot of intensity especially because it is the first game
Bushby said. We have a lot of people that can go out and play.
Intensity is exactly what the Bobcats will need this year as they look to fill the void left by last year's starters Lauren Hmiel (15.3 points per game) and Chandra Myers (7.7 PPG)
A selection to the preseason All-MAC team, Bushby is ready to embrace her leadership role as a senior on this team.
I've been here and done this before. This is nothing new to me. Helping the younger kids adjust in different situations is going to help this team to be successful on both ends of the court.
Coach Semeka Randall recognizes this season as a continuation of the growth that began last season.
I think as a team we really embraced last season. This season we're not going to look ahead. Randall said. We want to make an effort to take one game at a time.
In practices and scrimmages, Randall has stressed not turning the ball over and making free throws. Bushby has heard her loud and clear.
Getting after it on the offensive and defensive end is going to be key this season. Bushby added. Doing the little things will make all the difference.
When Ohio Dominican comes to Athens tonight for the first exhibition of the season, the Bobcats want to ensure it is not a pleasant stay for the Panthers.
We want to execute our plays stick to our principles and make them make tough shots. Randall said. It's really simple
have fun out there.
Ohio and Ohio Dominican will tip-off at 7 tonight at the Convo.
