Two Ohio University students were hospitalized late Thursday night after attending an initiation event at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
An 18-year-old freshman was taken to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital by Emergency Medical Services from his Jefferson Hall dorm room.
His injuries included two swollen lips, blood coming from his mouth, a chipped tooth and bruises on his back and chest, according to a report from the Athens Police Department.
He was discharged later that night.
Another pledge, also a freshman, told Athens police he was blindfolded and forced to drink large amounts of alcohol and repeatedly slapped around by fraternity members.
The second pledge had visible injuries on his chest, arms and back, according to the report.
The OU chapter of Delta Tau Delta fraternity was charged with hazing, which is a fourth degree misdemeanor according to the Ohio Revised Code.
Fraternity President Paul Kolbe refused to comment.
