Deans, provost work to refine reorganization

Now that the provost has approved restructuring proposals, deans are working with members of their colleges to iron out remaining issues and put together transition teams.

The moves will include departments currently based in the College of Health and Human Services, and also the formation of an Academic Health Center.

Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit said much of the focus since she gave the go-ahead to 10 proposals has been on answering questions. Her office has set up a Web site for students, faculty and staff that has timeline information and frequently asked questions.

“There’s a lot of information that is out there to try to address the kinds of things people might ask about,” Benoit said, adding that she’s very excited about the changes. “I think we have made some really good restructuring decisions … and that there was a lot of feedback.”

Much of the work now is happening at the college level, but Benoit said she is still waiting to see and decide on a report about the regional campuses, Outreach and University College, which administrators hope to have done within the next two weeks.
