At tomorrow's Bowling Green Women's Challenge, the Bobcats will try to get a foothold on the rest of the Mid-American Conference.
This meet is going to be a competitive one
coach Clay Calkins said. The other teams in competition have only been gone for three weeks where our team has been gone for six weeks. We are going to take this meet with a grain of salt.
The MAC schools that stand in the way are Toledo, Miami, Ball State and Central Michigan, along with host Bowling Green. Also participating are a slew of other schools such as Oakland, Dayton and Detroit Mercy.
The Bobcats came away with a solid showing in last week's Buckeye Classic at Ohio State University, especially junior jumper Cathy Udeani. She picked up where she left off last year, winning the high jump competition.
With all the success Udeani has earned, she is not being complacent.
I stay hungry because I am not fully satisfied with my performances she said. I can always do better. If I am not number one in the MAC (which I was not last year)
then I have a lot of work to do.
She has been an impact member of our team for the past two years
Calkins said. Our expectations for her are high
and we look for her to continue her success.
In addition to Udeani, Hope McCarthy and Megan Amburgey both represented the Bobcats in the high jump, placing in the top five.
Bahiyjaui Allen is being kept out of the first two meets on account of what Calkins called, a strategic coaches' decision.
