Fueled by the return of senior Bahiyjaui Allen, Ohio had a good showing last week at the State Farm Games on West Virginia's campus.
Coach Clay Calkins was pleased with his team's effort at the meet.
I thought we had a solid performance; typically we start slow coming back from the break in January
he said. But the curve is going the other way for us.
The team garnered three first-place finishes and had 26 top-five finishes on the day.
Allen wasted no time shaking the rust off. She won both the shot put and weight throw events last weekend.
She is a competitor and we hope that she can stay healthy Calkins said of Allen's return.
The 4x400 meter relay team did not disappoint, recording its second-best time of the season.
This relay team is all about who is running the best and utilizing that talent
Calkins said. But if another runner comes along and runs faster
we will not hesitate to plug her into the mix.
The team will be up against some stiff competition this weekend, as host Findlay's 4x400 team won the race at the Northwest Ohio Invite. The Findlay Classic begins tomorrow, and is a two-day meet.
The Findlay Classic is a good throwers and vault meet
and we will face a moderate level of completion in those events
Calkins said.
