Little Caesars Pizza Bowl cost OU $120,736

Costs associated with Ohio University's fourth bowl game are projected to leave the school with another large bill to pay.

OU has a projected outstanding balance of $120,736.52 from the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, which they played on Dec. 26. OU lost the nationally televised football game to Marshall University 21-17.

Expenses for the post-season game totaled $218,886.52 while revenue from ticket sales and donations accounted for $98,150.00.

Part of the balance, $34,879.40, are fees that the athletic department owes to either the university itself and/or auxiliary units associated with OU.

This year's expense total is 60 percent less than in 2006 when Ohio competed in the GMAC Bowl. The outstanding balance represents a 41 percent drop from that game.

The game, which was played at Ford Field in Detroit, had an official attendance of 30,311. It was viewed by over 3.8 million people and had a national rating of 2.6, according to numbers released by The Nielson Co.

The expected balance does not include costs associated with the Marching 110, which also attended the bowl game. Ohio estimates that cost will be $35,201. In 2006, the cost of sending the Marching 110 to Mobile, Ala. for the GMAC Bowl was $61,900, according to records obtained from OU.
