Coach John Groce doesn't want to use it as an excuse, but it's hard to ignore Ohio's youth.
With only a few players returning from last season, Groce hasn't yet found a consistent rotation on this year's squad. The Bobcats added seven newcomers - six freshmen and one transfer - to a lineup that lost most of its players to graduation or transfer.
Guards D.J. Cooper and Jay Kinney, both freshmen, have been two of the team's top scorers this season. Cooper leads the team at 12.8 points per game, while Kinney is fourth at 10.8.
The pair combined for 47 points and 11 assists in Ohio's 81-79 loss to Robert Morris Saturday. But they scored just nine total points in a win against Delaware earlier in the season, which is an example of the unpredictability of freshmen on a game-by-game basis.

Last year, the Bobcats had a tight eight-man rotation that remained constant throughout most of the campaign, but obstacles have prevented that luxury this season.
I'm one of those guys
that even with a young team that I like as we're heading into league play
