Post Letter: High cost of bowl trip should fall on football team's shoulder pads

I wish Ohio University would spend some money supporting other students instead of spending $300,000 on just the football team for a bowl appearance.

The OU Marching 110 students who performed at the Rose Bowl parade deserved monetary support. That was a nationally televised event. Band students have worked most of their lives to master the instrument they play in the band. They come here and work hard to make it into the band, perform and support our sports programs.

Yet a visit to the band Web site shows that the cost per student was more than $1,500 and Kappa Kappa Psi was holding a 5K Walk for the Roses to raise funds to help defray the cost of the trip for the band members. Where's the love for the band members, OU?

Or did the football players chip in out-of-pocket and have fund-raisers for their fair share of their trip to the bowl game? (NOT.)
