Ohio University’s provost signed a resolution from Faculty Senate placing priority on academics in the university’s budgeting process.
The resolution called on OU’s top administrators to try to “preserve the educational value and opportunities necessary for student success and … preserve the resources for faculty to accomplish their educational mission, research, and creative activity” as they move forward with budget cuts.
Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit and OU President Roderick McDavis have asked each unit – from academic departments and colleges to facilities and support teams – to submit proposals for 5 and 10 percent cuts in next year’s budget. Those plans are due Feb. 1.
