Students will get a taste of Indonesian culture when PERMIAS, the Indonesian student association, hosts its annual Indonesian Night at 6 p.m. tomorrow in Baker University Center Ballroom.
Indonesian Night will feature cultural food and performances while allowing students to experience a culture that might be different from their own.
Sharing this information is important because a lot of people don't know about Indonesia or its culture, said Nurenzia Yannuar, president of PERMIAS. Why not share our dances and our food and our songs with the students at OU and celebrate the Indonesian culture?
There were 25 Indonesian students enrolled at Ohio University in fall 2009, according to the Office of Institutional Research.
Not only would PERMIAS like to introduce a culture, but we would like to make people aware of our existence here and in the Athens community
said Dyah Ariningtyas Hening, a member of PERMIAS.
Anyone is welcome to attend, and tickets can be purchased for $7 at the Office of International Student & Faculty Services in Baker Center or at the Yamada International House. Tickets must be bought before the event, and those interested in attending are urged to buy their tickets soon, as they are selling quickly. 3
