Men's Golf: Rain dampens 1st round, delays competition twice

Rain delayed the first round of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Monday as teams had to wait until mid-afternoon to tee-off.

Monday's first round was scheduled to be a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m., but the Bobcats were only able to get through six holes before heading to the clubhouse because of the bad conditions.

Ohio began again at 2:30 p.m., but all teams were only able to get through 18 holes and not the scheduled 36.

Ohio's Chad Warmbein led all Bobcats, shooting a 73 (+2), and Paul Grauer finished with a 74 (+3).

Ohio men's golf coach Bob Cooley said he was pleased with his team's performance given the conditions and long layoff from the fall but mentioned the need for improvement in putting.

A complete list of scores was not available.

The Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate is scheduled to start second round action today at 8:30 a.m. EST, weather permitting.
