As Athens welcomed sibs this past weekend, the men's basketball game became a popular attraction for students and their kin. I was very pleased with the effort our Bobcats put into an impressive win, but sorely disappointed with one thing: Ticket prices.
At $20 a pop, students' wallets were much lighter after the win. After checking online and noticing that tickets for the Miami game are selling for just $15, I can't help but feel that sibs were exploited this weekend. If the Athletics Department wants to make more money, I wish they would have done it at the expense of the Miami fans who will be joining us instead of the sibs who came to spend time with their brothers and sisters.
I wonder, almost hope, that the prices had something to do with the BracketBusters Tournament that the game was a part of. If not, I may have to attribute it to greed. If $15 tickets are good enough for a rivalry game, why is it not enough for family?
