The Student Trustee Selection Committee has released the application for Ohio University's next Student Trustee.
Students have until March 8 to apply for the position, a two-year term on OU's Board of Trustees representing the opinions of students on the university's governing body.
The new trustee who will be selected in the spring will replace senior trustee Chauncey Jackson, selected in 2008. Kyle Triplett, the junior trustee, was selected in 2009 and will retain his seat through next year.
Emily Bacha, Student Senate vice president and chair of the selection committee, said the trustee selection process centers on dedication to Ohio University and the excellence it can provide for students.
Bacha said the most important thing she is looking for in a candidate is dedication. The applications require resumes, letters of recommendation and personal essays establishing one's involvement at the university, she said.
Anything that shows you've already been dedicated
not to say that's what everyone one the committee is looking for. Bacha said.
Once applications are collected, the selection committee chooses five applicants to interview and suggest to OU President Roderick McDavis.
The final decision on the Student Trustee lies with Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, and the decision will be announced in the spring.
Applications and information packets are available outside the Student Senate office at Baker University Center Room 305. The committee will hold informational sessions for interested students throughout February, according to the application.
