OU begins search for new Lancaster dean

Ohio University will begin a search for a new dean of its Lancaster Campus, with the goal of filling the position by June.

John Furlow was named to a two-year term as dean in 2008. His term will expire on June 30.

Executive Vice president and Provost Pam Benoit said Furlow has helped the Lancaster campus grow and evolve during his time as dean.

I think he has built a lot of positive feeling on the campus

Benoit said. I think for the next dean we're really interested in someone who will have the campus to the next level.

OU-Lancaster has seen a 23 percent enrollment increase during Furlow's tenure. The provost said she hopes the next dean will see in OU-Lancaster more opportunities for growth.

Benoit said she and Dan Evans, executive dean of the regional campuses, will appoint a search committee by early April. The university will be doing a national search but will not be working with a search firm.
