Police investigate finals week assault

Ohio University police still are searching for suspects in an assault reported during finals week.

Michael Hendrix, 23, said he was walking between Scripps Hall and Alden Library at about 3 a.m. March 18 when a man grabbed him from behind and another man punched him in the face. The suspect who grabbed him was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, and the other suspect was wearing a green, OU basketball shirt, according to the police report. Both suspects were described as white men with short dark hair.

During the scuffle, Hendrix and one of the suspects fell to the ground. The suspects then fled from the scene and at least one ran toward Court Street, according to the report. Hendrix suffered only minor injuries. The suspects didn't take anything from Hendrix, according to the report.

People with information about the assault are urged to call Ohio University Police Department at 593-1911 or Crime Solvers Anonymous at 594-3331.

Four thefts also were reported during finals week. An estimated $4,580 worth of items was stolen, including three laptops, an iPod dock and $100 cash.

No burglaries were reported during spring break.

Last year during Winter Quarter finals week, a female student reported that she was raped. Four, college-aged males stole a ferret from Petland around the same time.
