Saturday night at Miami University, the season ended for the majority of the Ohio swimming and diving team.
Despite some individuals' performances that qualified for the NCAA Championships, the team wasn't exactly cheerful following the meet, coach Greg Werner said.
It's bittersweet because we accomplished so much individually
Werner said. Then again I think this is the only time in the past 22 years we've finished in third place.
It's a tough pill for the girls to swallow. They don't like it.
Toledo widely considered to be the pre-meet favorites
captured its first Mid-American Conference Championship in school history. Miami University
the defending conference champions
finished 98.5 points out of the lead and in second place.
Ohio can still take pride in plenty individual accomplishments.
By the end of the four-day meet
junior Rachel Heim had won four events. Two of her times
the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke
set school
meet
conference and pool records.
She was named MAC Co-Swimmer of the Year
