One of Ohio University's two finalists for head of Finance and Administration withdrew from consideration yesterday.
Richard Van Den Hul, currently vice president for Finance and Administration at the University of South Dakota, accepted a position similar to the one open at OU at Western Washington University.
OU had invited three finalists to campus for further interviews. One of the candidates dropped out before coming to Athens. With Van Den Hul out of the running, Lawrence Kelley, vice president for administration and finance and chief financial officer at California Polytechnic State University is the only finalist.
Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit, who is leading the search committee, asked students, faculty and staff for input on Kelley following his open forum and visit to campus yesterday.
The search committee will use the feedback they get from the university community, as well as other considerations, to determine how to move forward. While the committee could offer Kelley the job, it could also declare the search failed and begin again, according to Becky Watts, chief of staff to OU's president.
They just really didn't want to say what they were going to do
Watts said, adding the committee wants as much feedback as possible. They need guidance from their constituent groups.
According to Benoit's e-mail, the committee will decide the next step in the search process based on feedback on Kelley's visit. 1
