Post Letter: Republican senator to give speech Tuesday

It's often said that there is more than one side to every story, and that one's understanding of the truth isn't complete until one finds and understands an opposing viewpoint. This is true, and often in the day-to-day life of a college student, there isn't enough time to seek out opposing viewpoints. When that happens, people's understanding of how things work becomes skewed and unrealistic.

Being the community-minded people they are, the Ohio University College Republicans want to help change that, and are offering students an opportunity to hear these opposing viewpoints from a man who is working hard to represent the interests of Ohioans in the Statehouse, Sen. Bill Seitz.

Seitz is regarded by his Democratic and Republican colleagues in the Rotunda as one of the greatest orators the Ohio Senate has ever seen, and it is a credit to the voters of Hamilton County that he is chosen to represent their interests in Columbus.

In a speech titled A Republican Perspective on the State of the State

Seitz will be applying his rapid-fire wit and whip-sharp legal acumen to laying out the challenges and prospects that Ohio faces in the coming years. Democrats, Republicans, Greens, Independents ... students, faculty and community members of all political stripes are welcome to attend the speech, as it is sure to be entertaining and educational. It may even be - dare I say it - edutacional.

Seitz's spectacle of speechery begins at 7 p.m. on this coming Tuesday - also known as April 20 - in Bentley 140.

Be there, or be square. Aloha.
