When Ohio recruits Ricardo Johnson, Nick Kellogg and Ethan Jacobs arrive in Athens next fall, it will be in large part because of coach John Groce and his staff.
All three of the future Bobcats claimed Groce was the primary reason they signed with Ohio last November.
The coaches made me feel at home and I thought they really cared about my self-development
said Jacobs, a center from Tipton, In.
Kellogg, a point guard from Columbus agreed with Jacobs' sentiment.
First and foremost it was primarily coach Groce he said. They were the first to offer me and they showed strong interest. I liked his character and his approach. I felt like he really wanted me.
In a statement released last November after the signings, Groce showed he is just as excited about the players as they are about him.
To say I am pleased with the addition of T.J. Hall
Ethan Jacobs
Ricardo
Johnson and Nick Kellogg would be an understatement
said Groce. I am thrilled!
All three players are confident in their ability and ready to step in and contribute right away.
I expect to bring a defensive urgency
a winning atmosphere and toughness
said Johnson, a shooting guard from Covington, Ky.
I just want to help Ohio win games
Jacobs said.
That help will likely be replacing Ohio's only senior. With center Kenneth Van Kempen out of eligibility, Ohio will be undersized in the paint.
I would like to fill the hole of Kenneth
he said. If I get stronger
I believe that I can easily do that.
Groce said Jacobs possesses a unique skill set for a post player of his size.
