When The Post launched its new website in January 2009, then-editor Rick Rouan called it one giant experiment to figure out how to best give readers the news.
We haven't stopped this pursuit since. For much of this year, Post editors have met regularly to discuss the limitations of our current site and what would make it better in the future. Through regular meetings, we were able to determine how to build a better site in the future.
But even with all our hours of discussion, there was one thing we lacked - our readers' opinions. While our site tells us how many readers viewed a page, we do not know how readers would like our site to look.
Today, we have a start. Earlier this quarter, students from Hugh Martin's Journalism 416 class approached me because they wanted to do in-depth research on our site and on how to increase readership. They produced a survey with questions about The Post's online readers and what kind of information they access on our site.
You can take the brief survey by visiting thepost.ohiou.edu. Even if it's only a start, your opinions can help us get the news on campus and in Athens to you in the best way possible.
