An Ohio University football player pleaded no contest at the Athens County Municipal Court yesterday to the charges he racked up as he drunkenly drove down Court Street April 10.
Andrew A.J. Oxley, 21, was charged with failure to stop after an accident, failure to control his vehicle, and operating a vehicle under the influence. Judge William Grim dismissed the failure to control charge yesterday.
Oxley was sentenced to 60 days in jail and $1,225 in fines. The jail time and $600 of the fine will be suspended as long as Oxley is a law-abiding citizen for two years and completes 20 hours of community service within 90 days.
Oxley also must attend and complete a driver intervention program within 90 days and follow all program recommendations for two years, according to court documents.
When arrested, Oxley's blood alcohol concentration was more than double the legal limit of .08, according to court documents.
Ohio defensive tackle A.J. Oxley remains under an indefinite suspension from the team
