OU will also offer War and Peace Studies as a certificate program. Neither the major nor the certificate is expected to create new expenses for OU, according to the OU Board of Trustees April agenda. OU expects five students to enroll in the certificate program each academic year, but the agenda does not state how many students are expected to declare Global Studies - War and Peace as their major.
The Board approved the new major and certificate program at its June meeting. The following September meeting, the Board also approved the creation of a business management program for regional campuses and University Outreach.
OU will offer the two-year program at its regional campuses, Clark State Community College and Columbus State Community College, among others.
An estimated 50 students are expected to enroll in the program this academic year, while OU predicted that another 141 students would join the program next school year, according to the Board's September agenda
Projected expenditures and revenue for the program this fiscal year total $145,000 and $275,250, respectively, according to the September agenda.
