Although the Bobcats showed glimpses of brilliance yesterday, their mistakes and inconsistencies nullified the positives in their defeat.
I thought that
at times we played extremely well said coach Ryan Theis. At other times, we didn't.
After winning its first two matches of the TCU Nike Invitational
Ohio dropped the final match to the tournament's host
3-1 (25-22
18-25
23-25
23-25).
The Bobcats (8-5) won the first set of the match after trading points for most of it. Ohio never led by more than three points and never trailed by more than two.
Texas Christian (9-4) scored the first six points of the next set and
at one point
led by a score of 17-7. The Horned Frogs won the set 25-18 and never lost their momentum.
Ohio had the advantage in both overall kills and blocks in the match but couldn't capitalize on the advantages. The Bobcats had 11 service errors
while the Horned Frogs committed four.
Ohio also made 23 attack errors during the match. TCU made 15.
We're continuing to play at a higher level for a longer period of time, Theis said. That's an important part of our game.
The Bobcats rebounded in the third set after starting the set with a 6-1 lead. Late in the set
