West Washington Street resident found dead

A 41-year-old man was pronounced dead at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital yesterday after he was found unresponsive in his West Washington Street home.

The incident was the second time in three days Athens police officers were dispatched to an unresponsive city resident. In both cases, the residents were pronounced dead within hours, though officers say there is currently no connection.

Sean Nippert, whose address Athens Police would not disclose, was found by his female friend around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Lt. Randy Gray said.

Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene with police and performed CPR on Nippert, according to an Athens Police news release.

Nippert was transported to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead around 4:30 p.m., Gray said.

Athens County Coroner Harold Thompson said he is still unsure of the cause of death.

We don't suspect foul play at this time

Thompson said. But we haven't ruled it out.

Nippert's body was taken to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, which will take six to eight weeks, Thompson said.

Although city police will not know any details until the investigation has finished, there is currently no connection to the Monday death of Mary Lambert, of 17 Rallen Dr., Apt. A, at the Sunset Motel, 135 Columbus Rd., Gray said.

Lambert was found in her motel room around 12:30 p.m. by the cleaning staff when she did not answer her room door, according to a previous article in The Post.
