Bars are an institute of their own in Athens. Frequenting one or more throughout the week can definitely put a serious dent in your budget. With more than 20 bars near campus, it is easy to find somewhere to spend your cash. However, many bars have specials to help ease the pain when you see your tab at the end of the night.
Some bars have nightly specials that feature a specific drink, shot or beer, and others have deals throughout the week. Some nightly specials include:
Monday:
$4.50 domestic pitchers at Courtside Pizza
$2 well drinks at Broney's Alumni Grill
50 cents off glasses of drafts and $1.00 off

The Junction deems Thursday Quad Night
where you get three times the amount of liquor in your drink for the same price.
Friday and Saturday night, The Union sells Union Punch shot (is it a shot or drink?) for $1.75.
Sunday:
Tony's Tavern offers High Life for $1.25.
Apart from these deals, many bars also have weekly specials. Red Brick Sports Pub & Grill offers $2.00 Mega Mugs Monday through Thursday. Cat's Eye Saloon offers $2.50 pints of Guinness all day, every day. Buffalo Wild Wings has happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and has $1 off domestic and import drafts. It also supports a beer of the month that, for the rest of October, is a 23-ounce Coors Light for $3.20. Many bars also have happy hour where they offer deals on food and drinks. Broney's offers 50 cents off drafts and half-price appetizers, excluding wings, the sampler and slenders, from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday. Check a bar's website or menu for these hours and specials as they differ from bar to bar.
Despite all of these tempting deals, remember to always drink responsibly and to leave enough money in your wallet for a snack during the walk home.
